Nine individuals have been arrested in Faafu Nilandhoo following two separate anti-drug operations carried out by the Maldives Police Service on 16 August, 2025.

The first raid targeted a residence suspected of being used for the possession, consumption and sale of illegal drugs. During a court-warranted search, police recovered a can containing suspected narcotics and detained nine people aged between 19 and 25. After being presented in court, one individual was released, while a 19-year-old was remanded for 15 days. The remaining seven were remanded in custody for 10 days.

In a separate operation on the same day, officers intercepted a 19-year-old man attempting to smuggle drugs onto the island. Six packets of suspected narcotics were recovered from him, and he was remanded in custody for 10 days.

The Nilandhoo Police are currently investigating both the cases.
