The groundbreaking ceremony for a new police station was held in Himandhoo, as part of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s tour of inhabited islands in Alifu Alifu Atoll.

The project was inaugurated by Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusaan at a ceremony held on Tuesday morning.

President Dr Muizzu, Commissioner of Police Ismail Naveen, Road Development Corporation (RDC) Managing Director Ibrahim Nazeem, and the President of the Himandhoo Island Council were among those in attendance.

The new facility, to be developed by RDC, is expected to enhance policing capacity on the island and improve public safety services.

Expanding policing capacity across all inhabited islands is a key Government priority, with work on new police stations in Baa Dharavandhoo and Maalhos commencing last week.
