Work has begun on the construction of a new police station in Alifu Alifu Feridhoo, initiated by a groundbreaking ceremony held during President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s visit to the atoll.

The ceremony was officiated by Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusaan, and was joined by Commissioner of Police Mohamed Naveen, and Managing Director of Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) Ahmed Saudee, President Dr Muizzu and the Feridhoo Council President. The project has been awarded to MTCC.

The initiative forms part of the Government’s policy to expand police services to all inhabited islands. President has pledged to establish police stations nationwide within the next two years, with several islands already seeing progress this year where such facilities were previously absent.
