The Maldives Meteorological Service (Met Office)  has warned that rough weather is likely in several atolls today and tomorrow. According to the Department, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in the central atolls, with similar conditions anticipated in the southern atolls. 

While the central and southern atolls face challenging conditions, weather in the northern atolls is expected to remain favourable. The Meteorological Service also reported that wind speeds in the northwest are likely to range between 5 and 15 miles per hour, with gusts reaching up to 35 miles per hour.

Sea conditions across the country are expected to remain generally calm, the Department added. Currently, monsoon rainfall is occurring in many regions of the Maldives, contributing to the prevailing wet conditions.
