The newly appointed Maldivian Non-Resident Ambassador to the Philippines, Dr Mariyam Shabeena Ahmed, has presented her Letters of Credence to President of the Philippines Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

The ceremony was held on Tuesday at Malacañang Palace in Manila.

During the audience, Ambassador Dr Shabeena conveyed greetings and best wishes from President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and reaffirmed her commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation and friendly relations between the Maldives and the Philippines. President Marcos congratulated the Ambassador on her appointment and assured her of the full support of his Government in carrying out her duties.

Ambassador Dr Shabeena was accompanied at the ceremony by Hussain Jahhaz, Counsellor at the High Commission of Maldives in Malaysia.

Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and the Philippines were established in 1974.
