Visit Maldives has appointed British–Spanish actor Taz Skylar, best known for his role as Sanji in Netflix’s live-action One Piece series, as a Global Ambassador under its Global Ambassadorship Programme.

Skylar joins the programme’s current ambassador lineup, which includes Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif, angler Fly Navarro, and Italian sports journalist Fabrizio Roman.

According to Visit Maldives, Skylar will help promote the country’s natural beauty, adventure opportunities, cultural heritage, and sustainable tourism initiatives. He is scheduled to visit the Maldives from 27 August to 15 September 2025 for a destination marketing project highlighting both the adventurous and culinary aspects of the islands.

Skylar, who has over 1.8 million followers on Instagram, is regarded as one of the breakout stars of One Piece, which has been described as among the most successful live-action anime adaptations to date.

The Global Ambassadorship Programme seeks to promote the Maldives to new global audiences, increase visibility across key markets, and strengthen the country’s tourism branding through the endorsement of influential international figures.
