President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has assured that Madivaru Finolhu will be developed to generate economic benefits for Alifu Alifu Rasdhoo residents through tourism.

Speaking to the residents during his visit to the island, the President said the Government would prioritise work on Madivaru Finolhu, ensuring the site is enhanced with protective measures and made suitable for local tourism use. He added that the sandbank will be developed in line with public aspirations, to maximise economic gain for Rashdhoo and assured that the project will be prioritised.

The President highlighted several other development projects underway in Rasdhoo. These include road development, the expansion of school facilities, and the establishment of a sports complex. He noted that the Rasdhoo harbour project was already in progress and reaffirmed his Administration’s commitment to resolving long-standing challenges for the community.

Under the school expansion project, the institution will be equipped with a computer laboratory, a science laboratory, a multipurpose hall and additional facilities to improve learning conditions.

President Dr Muizzu also announced that land has been allocated for the construction of a mosque, with the Government ready to begin the project once the Council finalises arrangements. He noted that delays in construction were due to the Council not yet fixing the price for the project.

In a move to boost the Council’s revenue, 10,000 square feet of land previously designated for police purposes has been reassigned to the Council for use in tourism or other income-generating activities.

The President further highlighted that this was his second visit to Rasdhoo and expressed hope that his third visit would coincide with the completion of the island’s ongoing projects.
