The Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure, Dr Abdulla Muthalib, has officially inaugurated a road development project in Malé aimed at expanding the north side Boduthakurufaanu Magu.
The project has been awarded to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) by the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure. The contract, valued at MVR 144.5 million, was signed on 9 April 2025. The Ministry confirmed that the work is scheduled to be completed within 455 days.
Under the agreement, Boduthakurufaanu Magu will be widened to four lanes to ease traffic congestion. In addition, an 830-metre stretch of road from the Hulhumalé Ferry Terminal to the Local Market will be tarred.
The scope of work also includes the construction of new pavements designed to improve pedestrian access, the installation of a drainage system to address flooding issues, and the placement of road markings and sign boards to enhance road safety.
