A body has been discovered in the area designated for the construction of the Hulhumalé Water Theme Park and is believed to belong to a foreign national reported missing on the 21 August 2025.

Police confirmed the discovery, stating that although the man was found deceased, his identity could not be immediately verified.

The victim is suspected to be a 29-year-old Nepalese man who was reported missing on Friday, after last being seen on Thursday. Authorities noted that formal identification has been delayed due to the advanced stage of decomposition.

The body was recovered from the beach area adjacent to the proposed Water Theme Park site. The project, awarded to a Malaysian company in 2017, remains incomplete, and the land currently lies unused.

Police have launched an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the case.
