Haa Dhaalu Neykurendhoo has started two key development projects with the commencement of work on a health centre extension building and Bank of Maldives (BML) ATM service.
The construction of the health centre’s new extension was inaugurated by Minister of Health Abdulla Nazim, joined by Fenaka Corporation Managing Director Mohamed Najah and island council representatives. Fenaka has been contracted to carry out the project. According to the Ministry of Health, the additional facilities are intended to address space shortages and enable the delivery of improved healthcare services, particularly as the Government seeks to modernise atoll-level health infrastructure. The Minister noted that the Administration is prioritising investments to strengthen service delivery and ensure that more treatments can be provided closer to home.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu officially launched ATM services on the island as part of the nationwide initiative to provide banking access in every inhabited island. Following the inauguration, the President handed over a commemorative bank card to the island council.
The newly installed ATM will allow residents and businesses to withdraw and deposit cash, transfer funds, and pay bills around the clock. BML has said the ongoing project to expand its ATM network, already rolled out in several atolls, will enhance financial inclusion and promote economic activity in rural communities.
