President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed his commitment to completing the Cool School project within the year, ensuring that every classroom in the Maldives will be fully air-conditioned.

Speaking to residents of Haa Dhaalu Kulhudhuffushi, the President said the initiative directly addresses longstanding concerns from students, teachers, and parents over the heat in classrooms and school halls.

He explained that air-conditioning units will be delivered in bulk to islands across the country, with installation expected to be completed by the end of this year. The project will also extend to school halls and multipurpose halls in its second phase.

The President further announced that solar panels will be installed as part of the programme to help offset electricity consumption once the project is fully implemented.

Highlighting the origin of the initiative, President Dr Muizzu noted that one of the most frequent requests he received from students during his presidential campaign was to have air-conditioned classrooms, a pledge he is now working to fulfil nationwide.
