President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that several infrastructure development projects will be carried out in Haa Dhaalu Kurin'bi alongside the island’s harbour development.

Speaking during his visit to the island and meeting with the local community, the President said that the harbour project will be developed to enable long-term use of the outer channel, with adjustments to the original design incorporated in a second phase.

In addition to harbour works, the President pledged to upgrade the island’s Health Centre, introduce new services, and ensure adequate staffing to extend operating hours to 24 hours by the end of this year. He assured residents that the service will commence early next year.

The President also highlighted progress in education and sports facilities. A multi-purpose school hall and four new classrooms are under construction, while practical work on the football stadium is near completion. He added that the futsal turf would be replaced this year, and a new handball court would be developed next year under the national budget.

During his visit, President Muizzu inaugurated Bank of Maldives (BML) ATM services in Kurin'bi and laid the foundation stone for a new Fitness and Recreation Centre.

On waste management, the President acknowledged that work awarded in 20 islands with foreign funding had stalled. He announced the cancellation of the previous agreement, with the project to be reassigned to new companies.
