Preparations are underway to celebrate World Clean-up Day 2025 in the Maldives, with the official celebrations scheduled to take place on 20 September in Baa Kamadhoo.
The campaign is organised by Let’s Do It! Maldives, the local branch of the international Let’s Do It! movement. Known for its natural beauty and thriving local tourism, Kamadhoo was selected as the focal point, while Let’s Do It! Maldives has encouraged participation from all inhabited islands across the country.
As part of the campaign, volunteers will carry out clean-up activities across the island, including residential areas, beaches, shorelines, and surrounding waters. The initiative is designed to raise awareness about waste management and highlight the importance of community participation in protecting the environment.
World Clean-up Day, observed globally every 20 September, is one of the world’s largest civic movements, bringing together millions of volunteers to tackle the global trash problem. In the Maldives, the annual event has been held in resorts and residential islands in previous years, with Kaafu Dhiffushi serving as the host in 2024.
