President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has congratulated Sébastien Lecornu on his appointment as the new Prime Minister of France, highlighting confidence in his leadership and reaffirming the close ties between the two nations.

In a message sent on behalf of the Maldivian Government and people, President Dr Muizzu wished Prime Minister Lecornu success in carrying out his duties and in achieving the goals of his administration. He also emphasised that the Maldives values its partnership with France and expressed optimism that cooperation on areas of mutual interest would strengthen during Lecornu’s tenure.

The President concluded by extending his personal best wishes for the French leader’s health and well-being, as well as continued peace and prosperity for the people of France.

France and the Maldives have maintained diplomatic relations since 1969, with both countries working together on a range of international issues. Lecornu’s appointment marks the latest change in French leadership, making him the fifth Prime Minister to take office in just over two years.
