President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reiterated the Maldives’ steadfast support for the Palestinian cause following the adoption of the New York Declaration on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution by the UN General Assembly.

In a message on X, President Dr Muizzu said the Maldives welcomed the declaration, describing it as a vital step to strengthen international consensus and ensure accountability for the rights of the Palestinian people. He added that the country supports the call for collective action to advance peace and justice.

The President reaffirmed that the Maldives remains unwavering in its advocacy for an independent and sovereign Palestinian state, based on the pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

President Dr Muizzu has consistently used international platforms to voice solidarity with Palestine, urging the global community to unite in pursuit of justice, dignity and peace. He has also condemned the heavy toll of Israel’s ongoing military campaign, which has killed more than 60,000 Palestinians since October 2023, including thousands of women and children.
