Children’s evening held to mark Engineers’ Day

A special children’s evening was held in Malé on 12 September to celebrate the first International Engineers’ Day in the Maldives, with the aim of inspiring young people to take an interest in the field of engineering.
The event, organised by the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure, took place from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Malé Usfasgandu area. Families and children attended the evening, which featured interactive stalls showcasing different branches of engineering. Children engaged in games and learning activities introducing them to engineering, while participating institutions showcased their roles in infrastructure and development.
Eight State-owned enterprises (SOEs) and Government agencies participated in the event, including the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), Malé City Council, Housing Development Corporation (HDC), Fenaka Corporation, State Electric Company (STELCO), Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), Road Development Corporation (RDC) and Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL). Additional support was provided by MWSC, FDC, Dhiraagu and Ooredoo.
Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Dr Abdulla Muththalib attended the event. In his remarks, Minister said the initiative reflected the importance of recognising the role of engineers in national development and fostering interest among future generations. He added that the ministry intends to expand celebrations of Engineers’ Day in the years ahead.
