Parliament Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla departed for Islamabad on Tuesday morning for a five-day official visit, according to the Parliament Secretariat.

The Speaker, who also chairs the ruling People’s National Congress (PNC), is accompanied by four fellow PNC lawmakers: Hulhudhoo MP Mohamed Shahid, Manadhoo MP Husnee Mubarik, Gan MP Yoosuf Nasheed, and Central Hulhumalé MP Abdulla Shazeem.

During the visit, the Maldivian delegation is scheduled to meet senior Pakistani government officials and discuss areas of mutual interest.

The Parliament has not released further details of the agenda or specific meetings planned for the trip.
