Kulhudhuffushi City is set to host the Commonwealth Beach Handball Championship 2025, which will take place from 18 to 22 September at the International Beach Handball Court.

The tournament will feature six national teams - Maldives, Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and South Africa - competing in what organisers describe as one of the most significant beach handball events ever held in the South Asian region.

President of Handball Maldives, Ahmed Mujthaba, said the event is a milestone for the country, highlighting the unity of the Kulhudhuffushi community and institutions in organising the competition. He noted that staging an international tournament in an island city was once a distant ambition, now realised through years of effort to develop the sport nationwide.

Fixtures released by the organisers show Maldives opening their campaign against Sri Lanka on 18 September.
