Government breaks ground on Keyodhoo council building project

The Government has commenced construction of a new council office in Vaavu Keyodhoo, taking another step in its nationwide island council infrastructure programme.

During President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s visit to Keyodhoo, Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works Adam Shareef Umar, joined by the island council president and officials from Rasheed Carpentry and Construction (RCC), broke ground for the new facility.

The Keyodhoo office is part of the Government initiative to replace aging council buildings, with plans to build over 100 new offices within this five years. RCC has been contracted to construct 55 of these facilities.

According to the Ministry of Cities, the MVR 631 million project will include boundary fencing and full office furnishings once complete.
