Certain trade-related services in the Maldives will be processed exclusively through the ‘Tradian’ platform starting 21 September, according to TradeNet Maldives.

Effective tomorrow, the following services will only be available on Tradian:

  • Vessel registration
  • Vessel estimated time of arrival / departure
  • Manifest submission
  • Certain import and export related permits and licences

‘Tradian’, a national single window system designed to consolidate trade services under one platform, was officially launched in September last year. The portal is currently used by Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) and Maldives Customs Service, with 17 agencies now active on the system.

Speaking on State media, TradeNet General Manager Ahmed Samoon urged businesses to complete registration ahead of the transition. He explained that a cut-off has been set for 21 September, cautioning that delays may occur for those who wait until the last minute.

Samoon said registration has been made simple, with users able to sign up via EFAS by filling out the form at Tradian.gov.mv. Registration opened on 20 April, and to date more than 58 shipping agents and over 70 freight forwarders have signed up.

Developed with input from local economic stakeholders and Maldivian experts, the Tradian system was designed to streamline trade procedures and enhance efficiency. The Maldives National Single Window Project is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, TradeNet Maldives Corporation, and partner agencies, forming part of the Government’s efforts to digitalise trade and administrative services.
