President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that a significant share of the 2026 national budget will be dedicated to advancing digitalisation across the Maldives.
Speaking to residents of Meemu Muli during his tour of four atolls, the President outlined plans to digitise all public services by 2026, with implementation continuing through 2027 and into early 2028. He noted that the programme will be a joint effort between the Government and the private sector.
Highlighting the importance of transparency and public participation, President Dr Muizzu said communities will help shape a 20-year national development master plan. Teams will visit islands to gather input, ensuring local priorities are included. He added that new legislation is being drafted to guarantee continuity of the plan beyond political transitions.
The President reaffirmed his Administration’s commitment to long-term, inclusive development and to creating a digitally connected Maldives that supports sustainable growth.
