President Dr Muizzu extends condolences on passing of Saudi Arabia’s Grand Mufti

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has extended heartfelt condolences following the passing of the Grand Mufti of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and President of the Senior Scholars Council, Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Sheikh.

Sheikh Abdulaziz died on 23 September 2025 in Riyadh, aged 82.

In a message posted on his official X account, the President prayed that Almighty Allah grant the late Sheikh Abdulaziz eternal rest in Jannah and conveyed his deepest sympathy to the bereaved family at this time of sorrow.

The President also sent his condolences to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia.

President Dr Muizzu stated that the Islamic Ummah has lost an eminent scholar and respected adviser who dedicated his life to preserving and spreading the teachings of Islam.

Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Sheikh had held the position of Grand Mufti since June 1999, succeeding Sheikh Abdulaziz Bin Baz.
