President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has inaugurated a series of major development initiatives in Thaa Kin’bidhoo, including the launch of a Bank of Maldives (BML) ATM service and multiple infrastructure projects aimed at boosting local services and connectivity.
The new BML ATM, part of a nationwide government-BML partnership that has so far brought the service to 13 atolls, was officially opened during the President’s visit.
President Dr Muizzu also attended the groundbreaking of the island’s new police station, where the foundation stone was laid by Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusaan. Fenaka Corporation will carry out the project.
Further strengthening the island’s infrastructure, Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Dr Abdulla Muththalib inaugurated a road development project that will see the Road Development Corporation surface local roads with tar.
Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation Abdulla Rafiu marked the start of work on a new Fitness and Recreation Centre, designed to enhance community wellbeing and youth engagement.
During the visit, President Dr Muizzu toured the 25-hectare reclaimed land area, added to the island last year, to assess ongoing and future development opportunities.
