The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has completed key development works in Segment 1 of the Boduthakurufaanu North Side Road Development Project.

According to MTCC, the pre-cast panel installation for the first segment has been finalised, while quay wall capping concrete works have reached 33 per cent completion. Reinforcement work on the remaining quay wall capping length is also underway.

The MVR 144.5 million project spans 830 metres, from the Henveiru Ferry Terminal to the Local Market, and is being carried out in three phases. It includes the construction of a 737-metre coastal wall, expansion of the road into four lanes, creation of new pedestrian areas, and a modern stormwater drainage system to mitigate flooding during heavy rainfall.

Once completed, the project is expected to significantly improve accessibility in Malé City. The widened roads will ease traffic congestion, while the new pedestrian areas and drainage system will ensure safer, more resilient infrastructure for all road users.
