The Maldives Immigration has announced that passports unclaimed for more than six months will be cancelled if not claimed by 31 December 2025.

The agency urged applicants who have not picked up their passports to do so before the deadline. Any passports remaining unclaimed after this date will be cancelled in line with Article 19 of the Passport Regulation and subsequently discarded.

Under the Maldives Passport Regulations, passports left unissued for over six months may be cancelled within a period determined by the Controller General of Immigration.

Immigration noted that the passport application and issuance process has been streamlined, with services now available in multiple cities and regional offices to make collection more convenient.
