The Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO) has appointed Mohamed Bassam Adam as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Bassam has more than 20 years of experience in the Maldivian tourism and hospitality sector. He previously served as Deputy Managing Director of Visit Maldives Corporation, formerly known as Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC). His career also includes leadership roles in travel agencies, airlines, and destination marketing initiatives.

According to MATATO, Bassam’s appointment was finalised following a selection process in which several candidates were evaluated. The Board unanimously endorsed his appointment, citing his experience and industry knowledge.

The CEO position became vacant after the resignation of former CEO Aminath Suzan.
