Kan’ditheemu Health Centre to be developed with 20-bed capacity

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced plans to develop the Kan’ditheemu Health Centre into a two-storey facility with a 20-bed capacity. The President made the announcement while addressing residents of Shaviyani Kan’ditheemu during his ongoing tour of the atoll’s inhabited islands.
He stated that the upgraded health centre will be developed with an expanded scope, reflecting the Administration’s goal of enhancing healthcare services in the region and fulfilling his pledge to strengthen the island’s health infrastructure.
As part of his visit, several agreements were signed to advance Kan’ditheemu’s development, including the island’s road development and shore protection projects. The President also attended the inauguration of the construction of the Fitness and Recreation Centre and the Kan’ditheemu Police Station.
Additionally, President Dr Muizzu highlighted that efforts are under way to provide essential utilities, such as water, electricity, and sewerage services, to reclaimed areas of Kan’ditheemu and neighbouring islands. He also announced that the island’s football stadium will be upgraded under next year’s budget.
