State Electric Company (STELCO) has donated a deep tracker and a water-logged drone to bolster the Maldives National Defence Force’s (MNDF) rescue and fire-fighting capabilities.
At a ceremony held today at Bandaara Koshi, STELCO’s Managing Director, Hussain Fahmy, officially handed over the equipment to Major General Ibrahim Hilmy, Chief of Defence Force, on behalf of the MNDF.
The deep tracker, designed for underwater search and rescue missions, and the water-logged drone, which will assist in combating fires in high-rise buildings, were presented in the presence of senior officials from both STELCO and MNDF. Brigadier General Ahmed Ghiyas, Vice Chief of Defence Forces, along with other MNDF officers and STELCO executives, were also in attendance.
This donation marks a key step in equipping the MNDF with advanced tools to enhance its emergency response capabilities.
The new resources will enable the force to improve its response times, particularly in complex operations such as underwater rescues and high-rise fire-fighting, ensuring greater public safety and security.
