The Elections Commission of Maldives (ECM) has finalised the voter registry and ballot box allocations for the upcoming Addu City referendum ahead of Saturday’s vote.

According to the ECM, 9,203 individuals are eligible to cast their ballots, including 255 voters who re-registered before the deadline. The final voter list has been published in the Government Gazette and made available on the ECM’s official website.

Ballot boxes have been distributed across Addu City and Malé based on voter population, with the following allocations:

  • Hulhudhoo: 3 ballot boxes for 1,243 voters
  • Meedhoo: 3 ballot boxes for 1,218 voters
  • Feydhoo: 5 ballot boxes for 2,862 voters
  • Malé: 7 ballot boxes for 3,881 voters

The ECM confirmed that no further amendments or complaints regarding voter registration will be accepted following the publication of the final list.

Voters who did not re-register since the last parliamentary elections have been automatically assigned to their island of permanent residence. Those registered in Hulhumalé and Vilimalé will remain registered to vote in Malé.

Polling will take place on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The referendum will allow residents of Hulhudhoo, Meedhoo, and Feydhoo to decide on proposed changes to the composition of the Addu City Council.

The ECM has urged all eligible voters to verify their polling stations in advance to ensure a smooth voting process.
