The Government has officially awarded the construction of a city hotel and an Islamic Centre in Fuvahmulah City, as part of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s visit to the city.

The city hotel and eco-tourism development project has been awarded to the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL). The agreement was signed by Minister of State for Tourism and Environment, Nashaath Rasheed, and Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed on behalf of MACL.

Meanwhile, the development of the Islamic Centre has been contracted to Afami Maldives. The agreement was signed by the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, and Afami Maldives Managing Director Ameen Mohamed.

According to the agreement, the new Islamic Centre will feature a main prayer hall, conference hall, library, classrooms, an imam’s room, and administrative offices. The facility will also be equipped with solar panels and air conditioning systems to promote energy efficiency.

These projects are part of President Dr Muizzu’s presidential pledges to enhance social infrastructure and promote tourism-led development in Fuvahmulah City.
