President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has emphasised that building a resilient economy is crucial to strengthening investor confidence in the Maldives.
He made the remarks while inaugurating the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Air Corps’ Gan Air Station on Wednesday afternoon, as part of his official visit to Addu.
The President highlighted that sustained economic growth and investor trust depend on maintaining national safety and stability. He underscored that long-term prosperity relies on fostering a secure environment supported by a skilled and educated workforce, noting the growing participation of investors in the national economy.
Referencing the progress of developed Islamic nations, President Dr Muizzu reiterated the importance of a strong defence force in safeguarding national identity and supporting an economy built on Islamic unity and values. He reaffirmed his Administration’s commitment to enhancing the MNDF through new training facilities and infrastructure developments in Malé to strengthen defence operations.
He further announced plans to acquire military aircraft for the Air Corps next year and to establish a comprehensive defence ecosystem equipped to address emerging challenges such as cyber warfare. These measures, he said, would ensure the Maldives remains prepared to protect its sovereignty in all circumstances.
