President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the reclaimed land in Kaafu Gulhi signifies an important step toward initiating multiple development projects on the island.

Speaking at the ceremony marking the completion of the Gulhi Land Reclamation and Shore Protection Project, the President said the Government will formulate a land-use plan based on the needs of the people and ensure that development proceeds in line with their priorities. He assured that the Government will provide the necessary support to facilitate housing and other community projects on the reclaimed land.

President Dr Muizzu reiterated that his Administration has begun development projects across the country as promised and that similar milestones of projects being launched and completed will be seen on every inhabited island. He stressed that every citizen is an equal to the Government, and that the Administration remains committed to fulfilling its promises to the people.

Highlighting the harbour expansion project for which an agreement was signed on the same day, the President said work will be expedited, noting that the required equipment is already available on the island. He added that priority will also be given to completing other ongoing projects.

Addressing concerns related to land allocated for tourism previously, the President said the issue will be resolved in accordance with laws and regulations without causing financial loss to the State. He acknowledged existing challenges but assured that the Government is working to resolve them as requested by the community.

The President further noted that the projects currently underway in Gulhi, along with those included in next year’s budget, will be implemented as planned.
