President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed that the Maldives will not welcome Israelis as long as Palestinians continue to face persecution, underlining his Government’s firm support for the Palestinian cause.
Speaking at the “Dhiveheenge Raajje” rally, the President highlighted that the voice of the Maldivian people is among the strongest in the world, a principle he said has been reinforced throughout his tenure.
President Dr Muizzu outlined his foreign policy, emphasising that the Maldives seeks to maintain friendly relations with all countries without discrimination. He clarified, however, that Israel is an exception, and Israelis will not be welcomed in the Maldives as long as Palestinians are oppressed.
The President also addressed the country's decision to ban Israeli passports, noting that the measure reflected the wishes of the Maldivian people. He stressed that, despite external pressures, the Government prioritises the views and interests of its citizens.
The ban on Israeli passports has received widespread approval among Maldivians, who described it as a bold and principled move in support of the Palestinian people.
