President assures full delivery of nationwide housing for all policy

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed that his Administration will implement the Government’s Housing for All policy in its truest sense, ensuring that every family in the Maldives receives secure and adequate housing.
Speaking at the ‘Dhiveheenge Raajje’ mega rally, the President said that multiple housing projects have already begun this year, with further expansions planned for 2026 as part of his electoral commitments.
In this regard, the President noted that 825 housing units will be developed across the nation this year, while a further 1,100 units will be constructed in another 16 islands under next year’s budget. He added that 3,000 housing units are currently under development in the Malé region with agreement with Bank of Maldives, with construction of an additional 4,500 units scheduled to begin soon.
The President also announced that the Rasmalé 1,100 hectare land reclamation project is expected to be completed within five months, and that 15,000 land plots will be allocated before the project’s completion, with selection guidelines to be published in the following days.
President Dr Muizzu stated that applications for the plots will be opened soon, with eligibility extending to long-term Malé residents from both the capital and other islands. He reiterated his commitment to fulfilling previous housing allocations, assuring that flats and land plots promised under earlier administrations will be granted as pledged.
He further noted that additional dredging works will be undertaken in Giraavarufalhu to ensure sufficient land for distribution, underscoring the Government’s resolve to deliver comprehensive, equitable housing solutions nationwide.
