President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that the Government has successfully placed 101 children under State custody into family environments as part of its programme to ensure every child has a safe and nurturing home.

Speaking at a ceremony held to commemorate two years in office, celebrated under the theme “Rayyithunnaa Eku Kuriah – Hafthaa 104”, President Dr Muizzu reiterated his commitment to building a society free from child abuse and neglect. He noted that the initiative to provide a family for every child is being implemented with the cooperation of multiple stakeholders and the wider community.

The President highlighted that, alongside family placements, the Government is conducting training and other developmental programmes for children aged 16 and above to better prepare them for independent adulthood.

He also outlined ongoing efforts to empower women and expand opportunities for persons with disabilities. According to the President, 333 job opportunities have so far been created for people with disabilities across Government companies and the civil service.
