Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has offered employment to 40 persons with disabilities under the Fahi Programme – Ekuekee Gulhigen, an initiative inaugurated by First Lady Sajidha Mohamed, aimed at creating employment opportunities for people with disabilities. MPL stated that 35 employees were appointed to Malé City, with two to Kulhudhuffushi Port and three to Hithadhoo Port in Addu City.

Speaking at the event, MPL General Manager of Corporate Services Abdullah Rasheed highlighted that the programme is intended to become a long-term, vibrant initiative. He noted that while the new hires are initially employed on a contract basis, they will have opportunities to transition into permanent roles depending on their skills and experience. MPL currently has over 30 employees with disabilities, some who have served the company for up to 10 years.
