President Dr Mohamed Muizzu is set to meet with residents of Vilimalé as part of a wider initiative to gather public views on the development of the Greater Malé Region. The meeting will be held on 23 November 2025 at 08:30 p.m. at Muhyiddin School, according to President’s Office Spokesperson Heena Waleed.
The engagement follows the President’s announcement on 17 November, during the ceremony commemorating the second anniversary of his Administration, that he would begin a series of consultations with communities across the capital region to seek their opinions on development priorities and urban planning needs. The discussions are intended to ensure that major projects in Malé, Hulhumalé and Vilimalé reflect public concerns and community input.
In her post on X, Heena Waleed confirmed that the meeting will focus on gathering views related to the development of areas surrounding Malé and encouraged all Vilimalé residents to attend.
The meeting forms part of a broader effort by President Dr Muizzu to engage citizens in national decision-making. Beyond the capital, the President has already visited every inhabited island during his term, meeting with island councils and local communities to understand concerns related to infrastructure, services and regional development.
