President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that a dollar ATM will be installed in Villimalé next year, alongside the development of a 1,200-capacity sports complex, which he described as one of the major projects planned for the island. Speaking at the community meeting, the President reiterated that USD ATMs will be rolled out in 70 islands nationwide to improve financial accessibility. He also confirmed that preparations are underway to begin the 100-bed hospital project and road development works in Villimalé, noting that the existing hospital will be relocated and that road upgrades will proceed with support from the Chinese government.

President Dr Muizzu stressed that improving roads, water, and sewerage systems is essential to modernising Villimalé and resolving long-standing issues faced by residents. He assured the community that all commitments made to the island, including the hospital, road network upgrades, stadium enhancements, and public infrastructure improvements, will be delivered.
