The Parliament Committee on Independent Institutions has reviewed and approved the appointment of Mariyam Insha Faisal as a member of the National Integrity Commission (NIC). Her nomination has now been forwarded for final approval.
Following the expiration of the term of Commission member Ahmed Jihad, the NIC has nominated Insha to fill the vacancy. The current composition of the NIC now includes its President Gasim Abdul Kareem, Vice President Uza Ashiyath Shiuna, and members Aminath Shadiya, and Uz Shuaib Abdulrahumaan.
Once Parliament approves her appointment, Insha will be formally appointed as a member of the NIC by the President.
The NIC is established to enhance the functioning of law enforcement agencies in the Maldives. Its primary responsibilities include formulating rules and procedures for handling matters related to law enforcement agencies, their personnel, and cases involving these agencies.
