President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has extended his condolences following the passing of Ahmed Azmeel, a State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) employee who passed away while on duty.

In a message posted on his official X account, the President said he received news of Azmeel’s passing with deep sadness. He conveyed heartfelt sympathies to Azmeel’s family, as well as to STELCO’s management and staff, and prayed for eternal peace for the deceased.

Azmeel, a supervisor at STELCO, sustained severe burn injuries in a fire at the old power station in Hulhumalé while carrying out his duties. He later succumbed to his injuries at Bangkok Hospital, Thailand.
