The Maldives Customs Service has donated MVR 135,700 to support relief efforts in Sri Lanka following the devastation caused by Cyclone Ditwah.

The donation was handed over to the Sri Lankan High Commission by Customs Deputy Commissioner Ibrahim Mafaaz and received by High Commissioner Mohamed Rizvi Hassen.

Cyclone Ditwah brought heavy rainfall, strong winds and widespread flooding to several regions of Sri Lanka, displacing thousands of people and causing extensive damage to homes, public infrastructure and agricultural land.

The Maldives has emerged as the single largest contributor to the ongoing relief efforts, providing more than USD 2.4 million in aid to assist Sri Lanka in its response to the disaster.
