The Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology has urged the public to report any phone calls suspected to be made by prisoners.

In a statement, the Ministry said it has observed instances of inmates engaging in phone calls and using the opportunity to commit illegal activities.

To curb such misconduct, the Ministry announced that mechanisms have been set up to allow the public to report suspicious calls believed to originate from prisons.

The Ministry encouraged anyone who receives or suspects such calls to visit the Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) website and submit the phone number along with any relevant information to assist in further action.
