Discover Airlines has resumed flights between Velana International Airport (VIA) and Frankfurt, Germany, strengthening air connectivity between the Maldives and Europe.

The resumption of the seasonal service was marked by a ceremony held at VIA, during which Discover Airlines’ check-in counters were officially opened with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting.

Discover Airlines will operate two weekly flights between Malé and Frankfurt and will operate from the new terminal at VIA.

The airline operates seasonal services to the Maldives, catering primarily to the European market. The return of the Frankfurt route is expected to support further growth in tourist arrivals from Europe, particularly from Germany and the United Kingdom.

United Kingdom and Germany currently rank as the third and fourth largest source markets for the Maldives this year, accounting for more than 300,000 tourist arrivals combined so far.

The resumption of Discover Airlines’ service is expected to further strengthen tourism demand from key European markets and enhance connectivity during the peak travel season.
