The Maldives Meteorological Service has forecast adverse weather conditions across the country over the next 24 hours, warning of heavy rain, thunderstorms, and rough seas in several regions.
According to the national weather authority, widespread rainfall is expected nationwide during the forecast period, with some islands likely to experience heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms.
Wind speeds are expected to range between 7 and 15 miles per hour in the northern atolls, increase to between 10 and 20 miles per hour in the central atolls, and range from 8 to 18 miles per hour in the southern atolls. The MET Office said wind gusts could reach up to 40 miles per hour during showers.
Sea conditions are forecast to remain rough over the next 24 hours, particularly during periods of heavy rain. The MET Office stated seas are expected to be moderately rough during showers in both the northern and southern regions, while central Maldives is likely to experience rougher sea conditions due to stronger winds and rainfall.
