The second cruise ship of the year has arrived in the Maldives, bringing the total number of tourists arriving via cruise ships so far this year to 1,056.

The latest vessel, MS Crystal Symphony, arrived from Colombo, Sri Lanka on Friday carrying 577 tourists and 496 crew members. Maldives Immigration has stated that en-route immigration clearance services were provided to both passengers and crew.

The first cruise ship of the year arrived earlier this month from Seychelles, bringing 479 tourists and 491 crew members to the country.

Meanwhile, the latest statistics released by the Ministry of Tourism and Environment show that the Maldives recorded 143,211 tourist arrivals as of 20 January 2026, reflecting an 8.3 per cent increase compared to the same period last year.

Tourist arrivals are expected to continue rising as the peak season progresses. February has historically recorded the highest number of tourist arrivals in recent years, and similar trends are anticipated this year.
