The Roadha Hadhiyaa initiative was first announced by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu at an event marking the one-year anniversary of the Administration. In 2024, the programme provided each household with 10 kilograms of basmati rice and 10 kilograms of flour. In 2025, the Government distributed a total of 111,231 cases of canned tuna under the initiative.
In addition to food assistance, the Government is also providing electricity bill relief during Ramadan. The President has announced that during the upcoming Ramadan, households billed at the domestic rate will have their electricity bills capped at a maximum of MVR 400.
