Shaheed Ali School in Hulhumalé Phase II is set to open tomorrow, with classes scheduled to operate in two sessions, according to the Ministry of Education.
The Ministry said 1,950 students have been admitted to the school for the upcoming academic term and confirmed that all final preparations have been completed ahead of the opening.
Shaheed Ali School is the first school to be developed by the current Administration and the second permanent school developed in Hulhumalé Phase II, following the opening of S'alaah'udhdheen School. The project was developed by the Road Development Corporation (RDC) and was inaugurated by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu in December 2023.
The school is a five-storey facility with 50 classrooms, a multipurpose hall, modern teaching facilities, a turf field and indoor sports amenities. While the school has a standard capacity of 1,500 students, operating in two sessions allows it to accommodate up to 2,500 students.
The Ministry stated that the opening of the school is expected to ease pressure on existing schools in the area and support the growing population of Hulhumalé Phase II, in efforts to expand education infrastructure.
