First Lady Sajidha Mohamed has extended her greetings to students, parents and educators following the commencement of the new academic year.

In a message shared on social media, the First Lady expressed her hopes for a bright and prosperous academic year for students, while extending her best wishes to parents, teachers and school administrators.

The new academic year has started in January for the first time since the school calendar was shifted to the middle of the year four years ago.

More than 77,000 students are enrolled across 218 Government schools at the start of the academic year. The Ministry of Education has also announced that MVR 100 million has been spent over the past two years on renovating school buildings nationwide.
