Utility services have been fully restored to the 38 apartments affected by the recent fire at Hiyaa Tower 5 in Hulhumalé Phase II. 

The blaze, reported to the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) Fire and Rescue Service at 6:33 p.m. on Friday, damaged water, electricity, and sewage lines in the building.

According to MNDF, the fire originated from an air conditioning system’s outdoor unit located in the air shaft between the ninth and 14th floors. The incident disrupted essential services for dozens of households.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) confirmed on Wednesday that the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has completed the work and restored utilities to all affected apartments.

During the outage, NDMA provided food and temporary accommodation for 148 residents from 31 apartments. With services now restored, families have begun returning to their homes as the assistance period concludes.
