The Ministry of Education has opened applications to recruit a consultant to establish a structured risk assessment system in schools across the Maldives.

In an announcement, the Ministry stated that its objective is to create safe, inclusive and supportive learning environments in all schools nationwide. In light of the educational, social, emotional and environmental risks faced by students, the Ministry noted the need to integrate structured risk assessment practices into school systems.

The Ministry explained that, with the support of appropriate vulnerability assessment tools and manuals, risk and vulnerability assessments will be implemented at all school levels. This will enable teachers to identify at-risk students in a timely manner and carry out targeted interventions when needed.

A local consultant is being sought to facilitate the implementation of the initiative and to develop a comprehensive training video package for teachers and school leaders. The package is intended to make it easier for schools to conduct vulnerability assessments effectively.

In addition, the consultant will be responsible for conducting training sessions for teachers and school management staff in 20 schools in the Malé area.

The main objective of the consultancy is to institutionalise risk assessment practices from Grade 2 to Grade 12 in all schools across the country, establish online training resources and strengthen school-level capacity. The consultant will also be tasked with developing a complete training video package based on existing manuals and tools, and training teachers, principals and school leaders in selected schools to ensure that vulnerability assessments are implemented in a structured and sustainable manner.

Interested parties are required to submit proposals, including the documents specified in the Terms of Reference, before 1:00 p.m. on the 22nd of this month.
